Do you know who Harriet Beecher Stowe was and why she is an important part of American history? She was an author of a famous book called, "Uncle Tom's Cabin" that she wrote in 1852. Maybe one day you will have an opportunity to read this very famous book. She also wrote poetry, and is sometimes quoted. One quote that I have read is the one I have written above. What does this quote mean to you?
I enjoyed discussing those pictures from the newspaper with you. They were moving weren't they? Sometimes we forget that there are other people like us all over the world who want and need attention, love, friendship, compassion and every other positive thing we can give them. Which of the pictures did you like the best and why?
I thought of some more heteronyms! Did you? Here are some I thought of: close (the door), close (to you); bow (your head or the front of a ship) or bow (something you shoot arrows with or a ribbon you wear or put on a present); wound (an injury) or wound (like a string around a yo yo)!
